Air Traffic Control
This Air Traffic Control screensaver was developed for the 1994 After Dark Contest. The visuals are based on a 1950s-era shortwave radio, and the sounds are from actual recordings of aircraft communications in the the San Francisco Bay area. For each airplane on the radar, a random speed, direction, and altitude are generated when it first appears. This information is then used to update the plane position every time the radar sweep band comes around. The pilot speech can be disabled via the settings menu, where you can also control the number of airplane blips which move through the region scanned by the radar.
