New England Snow screensaver running on Windows 10

New England Snow screen saver seems to be unsteady running on Windows 10 I. e. snow fall pauses (stalls) frequently. Trouble shooter has switched it to Compatibility mode for Windows XP SP 3. Did not improve it. Is there a patch to fix this problem?

  • Hello Bruce,

Thanks for posting to the message board.

I've just tested the screensaver again on Windows 10 64-bit, and it seems to be working just fine. It's true that the snow doesn't fall down very smoothly, but I'm afraid that's how it's always been with this 10+ year old screensaver.

Have a look at the video preview on the New England Snow page. It moves a bit slower than on my test machine, but it should give you an idea of what's normal.

Hope that helps. Also note that we have more snow screensavers in our archive.

  • Rob, Thanks for your quick reply. I viewed the video preview and the snow is falling more smoothly on it than on my machine and obviously better on your test machine. I was hoping there was a solution, never-the-less its a great screensaver for the season. Have used it for several years.

    Merry Christmas!

  • Other than making sure you have the latest drivers for your video card, I don't think there's much I can do to fix that, unfortunately. I'll let you know if I find anything.

Happy Holidays and thanks for visiting!
