  • Hello Guy,

Getting sound working on the old DOS operating system could be quite complicated, and it's not much different with DOSBox. The settings described in the tutorial work for most people, i.e. on most computers, but there have indeed been reports of sound still not working, despite all settings being "correct".

The DOSBox Manual gives a few pointers:

"If you still don't get any sound set the core to normal in DOSBox configuration and use some lower fixed cycles value (like cycles=2000). Also assure that your host operating sound does provide sound. In certain cases it might be useful to use a different emulated sound device like a soundblaster pro (sbtype=sbpro1 in the DOSBox configuration file) or the gravis ultrasound (gus=true)."

My experience with DOSBox is too limited, I'm afraid, to be of more help here.

    Sorry for the inconvenience!
