Question about installing old Flash version

PoseMotion posted here about 3 months ago:

"If you want to still run Flash screen-savers, you can. Just download Flash player 29 and disable the auto update feature. It will continue to run and work. The Active-X (flashplayer29_0r0_171_winax.exe) version is the one you want to install. As most Flash screen-savers were based on IE / Alt.dll."

I dl'd and tried to install this version, but it errors with the message that IE already has Flash installed and will update automatically. Funny, since IE isn't around anymore. But it means I still can't get the Active-X version installed. Anyone tried this and have a work around for it?

  • Answering myself, and FYI for anyone else, flashplayer32_0r0_371_winax.exe is the version that would install with Active-X. Downloaded from Internet Archive files. Now my old Santas Workshop from Freeze works beautifully. So happy to see it again. :)

  • Oh, I just replied to your other post, but now see you already got the original version working. That's perfect! Enjoy and happy holidays :-)
