Malware

I had previously downloaded many freeze screensavers. I then found out that they had been taken down because of malware. I still have them on my computer and have not had a problem and actually re-downloaded it from your website. Why does my security say it won't download it because of security issues. Please let me know. Of course, I don't want to mess up my brand new computer.

  • Some of the free versions of Freeze's screensavers would contain adware, like browser add-ons that most people did not really need. Their screensavers listed on this site do not contain any adware, but may still be flagged by association.

I've reported this one as a false positive to Microsoft, hopefully they'll clear it soon. Most of the other reputable anti-virus programs don't have a problem with it.

Unfortunately, there may be another issue here: the Living Snow Globes screensaver requires Adobe Flash technology to work, and support for Flash was permanently removed from Windows last year. So it probably won't work.

I'll see what I can do to work around these issues, and will post back soon.

  • Are you saying flash technology was removed from windows 10. And if thats the case, is there other technology out there that would work. Thanks for your prompt response.

  • Yes, that's correct. It was discontinued by Adobe and subsequently removed from all major operating system, including Microsoft Windows and Apple macOS.

There's an alternate version that does not require you to have Flash installed, but there's a downside: there's no settings panel where you can disable sounds.

If you'd like to check it out, you can download it here: LivingSnowGlobesInstall.exe

That file should not give you any trouble with your anti-virus program.

Hopefully someday we can offer a version with the ability to toggle the sounds.
