Kaspersky security cloud detecting kewl and flipit as trojan.win32.generic

I tried to get Kewl and Flip it set as my screensaver but Kaspersky keeps on detecting them as trojan.win32.generic. Is it a false positive or is it genuine?

  • I've submitted both files to Kaspersky's Threat Intelligence Portal, and no threats were detected in both cases. You can find the results for FlipIt here, and the result for Kewl Clock here. Feel free to submit your files for analysis there.

If you continue to receive warnings on your computer, and your virus definitions are up-to-date, you can instruct Kaspersky to ignore the "threat", or you can submit it as a false positive by following the instructions given here.

It's a false positive, but if you would like some additional assurance, you could submit the files to VirusTotal to have them scanned by a multitude of anti-virus programs.

Hope that helps! And thanks for reporting it.

  • Thanks, but I wanna know why does kaspersky system watcher shows both of them as trojan.win32.generic when I try and click it in winrar. Guess it's a false positive then. Thanks
