Johnny Castaway Windows 11 64-bit - sound cannot be set

In the manual on your website - Johnny Castaway - it states to use the SB16W3x program, but this program does not start for me on Win11 64-bit (this app can't run on your PC). I think it doesn't support the 64-bit version of Windows, only the 32-bit version. Could you please advise?

• Hello Mosch,

  The SB16W3x program can only run in the DOSbox environment, not directly under Windows. DOSbox simulates an older 16-bit version of Windows so that it works.

  Have you tried to easy installer linked from the Johnny Castaway help page?

• Yes, I tried, but... how I got to this point: After launching, manually enter the following commands into the DOSbox window. It is important that you press the Enter key on the keyboard at the end of each command to execute it before moving on to the next command.
  MOUNT C C:Dosbox
  C:
  CD C:SB16W3X
  INSTALL
  After a few seconds, you should be greeted by the 'Audio Software Installation program'... BUT the 'Audio Software Installation program' DOES NOT LAUNCH - nothing happens...so it doesn't know what to do next...

  ano, zkoušel, ale .... jak jsem se dostal zde do tohoto bodu : Po spuštění ručně zadejte následující příkazy do okna DOSboxu. Je důležité, abyste na konci každého příkazu stiskli klávesu Enter na klávesnici, abyste jej provedli, než přejdete k dalšímu příkazu.
  MOUNT C C:\Dosbox
  C:
  CD C:\SB16W3X
  INSTALACE
  Po několika sekundách by vás měl přivítat "Audio Software Installation program". ..... TAK SE "Audio Software Installation program" NESPUSTÍ - nic se neděje .... tak neví co dál...

• If you use the installer, you don't need the rest of the tutorial, you can install (and uninstall) the Johnny Castaway screensaver with the click of a button.

  If you follow the tutorial, and nothing happens after you enter "INSTALL", that's strange. Do you not get any feedback at all? Instead, of INSTALL, can you try DIR? That should list all the files that exist inside the directory. Does it include INSTALL EXE?

• díky, zkusím ještě použít ten příkaz "DIR" a napíšu co se následně stalo. Ještě, když nainstalují ten spořič Johny Trosečník pomocí toho vašeho instalátoru, tak v nastavení spořiče ve Win 11 jej vidím, v náhledu se mi jeho statická úvodní obrazovka zobrazuje, ale spořič se po uložení a opuštění nastavení Win 11 na základní plochu systému nerozjede (nespustí se)

  Thanks, I will try to use that 'DIR' command and I will write what happens next. Also, when they install the Johny Castaway screensaver using your installer, I can see it in the screensaver settings in Windows 11, its static start screen appears in the preview, but the screensaver does not start (does not run) on the Windows 11 desktop after saving and exiting the settings.
