Geiss Screensaver has stopped working

For a while I've been using the screensaver without any problems on my windows 7 64bit , directX 11 driver, as a screensaver itself configured in Personalization as well as the visualizer option in Winamp.

However, after I updated the driver of my Realtek HD Audio, I received the error " Geiss screensaver has stopped working" . This pops up still after rolling back the driver update and reinstalling the screensaver.
The Geiss visualizer in Winamp still seems to work fine.

Does anyone knows how to solve this?

Thanks! M

  • No problem, I've attached the GEISS screensaver to your post now.

Have you gone into the settings of the screensaver and checked the Sound Options?

Under Miscellaneous Options, you can also toggle "Generate debug info in c:\g_debug.txt". When the screensaver fails to start, see if that file contains any info.

All settings are saved in the Windows Registry, at the following path:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\geissscreensaver

Using the Registry Editor, while the screensaver's settings panel is closed, you could browse to that location and delete that "geissscreensaver" key. To open the Registry Editor, go to Start, then Run, then type regedit. Take care to only remove the "geissscreensaver" key (looks like a folder) and its contents.
