Blocked plug-in in Mac, no fireplace in screensaver

It installed successfully using the Open from Finder method as described in one of the queries below. Problem is, when I go to settings, the preview shows "Blocked Plug-in" and when the actual screensaver does come on, it's a full black screen with just the clock appears.
Is there anything I can do to "unblock" this plug-in and make it work for my Macbook Pro Retina Displace 13" (2015) iOS X El Capitan 10.11.6 ?
Thanks

  • Hi Allen, thanks for posting.

Please try updating (or installing) the Adobe Flash Player plug-in as described on the following help page: How to fix the 'blocked plugin' error

That should "unblock" the screensaver. However, I have just tested the screensaver on OS X Sierra 10.12.1 and it does not appear to be working: I don't get a "blocked plugin" error, but I only see a series of dots at the top of the screen, and the fireplace never appears. I will try to fix that as soon as possible, and post an update here.

The problem I have encountered may not actually affect you, though, so please try updating the Flash Player and let me know if that works.

  • Hi, thanks! It worked! Didn't see this link previously, updated my Flash. It wasn't set to auto-upgrade. It's now working great. Thanks for your time.

p.s. I'll be waiting to update my iOS if you ever figure out the compatibility issues with the new Sierra iOS.

  • Great! I'm glad you got it working.

As for running MSN Fireplace on OS X Sierra, I tried again today and somehow it's working just fine, so it doesn't look like I need to update the screensaver after all. I will keep checking it over the coming days to be sure, though.

Thanks again for posting, I have now added a link to the blocked plugin help page to all download pages of screensavers for Mac, since many are Flash-based.
