the program just goes to a dosbox screen
when I click DOSBox Icon the screen goes to DOSBox info screen and then goes to an old screen of program manager selection

Hello Jay,
Make sure the line "win runexit c:\windows\scrantic.exe /s" from step 4.2 of the tutorial is spelled correctly at the bottom of the DOSbox configuration file.
Based on what you're describing, I think Windows 3.1 does launch but something is preventing it from launching the Johnny Castaway screensaver.
